I am considering buying a used Rebel XSi. 5,000 photos were taken in a year is too much?
The Canon Rebel XSi speak of has been well maintained and is in good condition. First owner bought it in August '08 and the camera has shutter 5,000 performances. I realize I've never considered if it is a "lot" or if this is even more important factor (it is a camera has a "given" the number of shots, life expectancy, if you like, or you can carefully shoot camera to infinity?) Is there a correlation between the shutter performance and results expected in the future of a camera … a bit like being aware of the odometer reading of a potential purchase of the car? Just curious, since the camera is otherwise as a1 and maybe 5000 is not much or months 11 anyway. Thnx
Given this number, 5,000, I wonder how it was treated in the camera for something else. You say it has been treated well – so I take it you've held, shot with him, etc. Now we come to the $ $, how much? Only you can decide if you think worth it compared to buying new with the traditional one-year warranty. All devices with moving parts that will take place some time, but Canon I would not expect one to do anything below about 100,000 shots. If you like, if you trust the person selling it, if you think the $ $ is correct, then all means, go ahead. However, I must emphasize that the purchase of new (with warranty) is always the best.
