Do you own a Canon?
I have a Canon Powershot SD 850 IS. My question is simply what is the difference between the modes auto, manual, portrait. Tomorrow I will put the camera to the test by taking pictures of my favorite band and I want the pictures to come out great, and it will be inside a building low light. I’m not an expert on these camers and want to know what you the experts think, can somone please give me the best settings so I can adjust the camera today for? for exampleAuto, superfine, S,L, settings ect?

Well, I have an early model, Powershot 610, but the back looks about the same. You really need to read your manual. You can start in the Auto mode with Red Eye activated. I don’t know how much SD memory you have, but you will have to determine what resolution you want to set your camera at. Are you going to print these pictures or send them by email? The higher the resolution, the more memory it will take. I have mine set at Medium which is 1600 x 1200 which can be made to a nice enough 8×10 picture, but a bit too large for sending by email. You can set it at a lower resolution for email pictures only(Standard 640×480). Keep your Compression set to Fine. Don’t forget to set the time and date. Also, activate the Date Stamp if you want your pictures to show the date on them. Like I said before, you really need to go through the manual yourself and learn how to set these up. Too much here to go over. I also bought the extender flash unit so I can take flash pictures in a large auditorium.(HF-DC1 Flash unit) Also, get yourself a good battery charger. They recommend the Titanium PowPower V4000. Good luck.
