They are the same product (for example, something Sony) did the same thing, where you can buy?
My boyfriend seems to think exactly the same product and model made with inferior parts in the poorest countries. For example, if I bought a camera in Russia and one of the states, the same model, Russia would not be as good quality and more likely to break. Is this true?
It is true that I know of. Sony products are manufactured in Japan no matter where they are sold. All iPod is manufactured in China, and so on. There may be a different camera, Sony sold more cheaply in Russia, but it's not the identical product manufactured and still in Japan. With technology changing at a rate increasing, the large manufacturers are producing and assembling limited runs only in anticipation of new models published in the near future. The new generation of iPod was released each fall is a good example. Some parts are transferred from one generation to the next because helps keep costs down and allows users to upgrade to lower list prices.
