How can I increase my depth of field.?
I am using a digital still camera for stop motion animation. I have not got manual focus, see example.
How do I increase my depth of field using exposure. It is something to do with longer exposure times or larger aperture.

There are two ways that you can increase your depth of field. These can be used independently or together depending upon the effect you want.
Firstly, if you have a zoom lens on your camera, use the shorter focal lengths (wide angle). Be careful that this does not distort any close-up images, however.
Secondly, stop down as much as you can (smallest aperture). This will increase your exposure times but for the kind of work you are doing, this is no big deal because digital cameras do not suffer greatly from colour casts as a result of long exposures. In any event, you can always add additional lighting with a desk lamp.
