Mamiya C220 TLR camera: trying to add a flash unit?
So here’s my problem:
I have a Mamiya C220 TLR camera but no resources for using/having a flash. It has a synchroflash terminal.
I also have the Canon 430ex ii hotshoe flash unit.
My question is would a PROFESSIONAL SYNCHRO ADD ON FLASH PC HOT SHOE ADAPTER allow me to use my Canon flash on my TLR camera? are there any risks involved?

Do you have to have the flash fixed to the camera or could you mount the flash on a tripod with a cable connection? In a studio setting or anywhere you have control over the ambient lighting, it is rarely a good idea to have your main lighting on the camera. It is unwieldy and causes poor modelling. You can buy hotshoe fitted slave flash triggers so that your Canon is triggered by any cheap low power flash on the camera. Note that some 220s have an accessory shoe and some don’t. If your’s doesn’t then you need a flash bar – a screw in bar or handgrip with an accessory show on it. in either case, the little flash on the camera must have a PC cable.
The unit you mention will allow you to connect the Canon – assuming there is a shoe on the camera to fit it to. The seller gets it back to front – it is actually for PC socket cameras that do not have a hot-shoe – he gets it the wrong way round so immediately raise questions. Calling it ‘professional’ is a joke too, A professional would buy a camera with the fittings he needed already built on.

If your Mamiya has an accessory shoe then:-
the unit you selected will do the job – clumsily! Better is to get a small flash with cable connector on the camera and your Canon mounted elsewhere with a hotshoe “slave flash trigger” like (eBay) 270750720976 – there are many alternatives.
If your Mamiya has no shoe :-
you need to add a flash bar (230628660693) or folding grip (300564578039). The little ‘triggering’ flash needs a cable long enough to reach the PC socket from the bar/grip’s shoe.
I’ve seen tiny triggering units stuck to the camera with a big blob of blu-tack!! It works.
