BOSTON (MA) in March – Help me please!?
Hey people!
I’m brazilian and i’ll go to Boston next month (to study)… i’m seeing some places with much snow… and for that, i have some questions:
- In march has snow?
- I’ll stay there for one month… i’ll return on April. I’ll need much money?? (the classes, house is included) the money is just for buy somethings, for example, camera, clothes, sneakers, go to parties, and one weekend, i’ll go to NYC… (this is possible?)
- And for end: I need much jackets?? coats??because here the temperature is high..

First of all, think of it not as Boston but as Boston/Cambridge. The two cities, both vibrant and interesting and full of universities and students, stare at each other across the Charles River.
So far, in Boston this winter has been very, very snowy – about 3 times normal. But as another Answerer has written Boston wether is very fickle. It could actually get warm and snowless for the rest of the winter.
However, in a typical March Boston weather can range from big snowstorms and temperatures as low as – 10 to being sunny and warm with temperatures as high as + 22. Be prepared for either — and everything in-between. So – yes – that means you need to bring a heavy coat, and boots for possible snows, or buy them here if the weather does indeed become cold and snowy. Obvisously, however, the later in the month you come the less chance for cold and snow.
On average there is a storm – rain or snow – every 4-5 days.
You should bring AT LEAST $US 1000 for buying things, including souvenir gifts to bring back home,
going to New York (good train service from Boston — and you may wish also to visit Providence, a smaller city on the way), and partying (however, remember that the drinking age in the USA is 21, and it is VIGOROUSLY ENFORCED. So if you are not yet 21 you probably will not spend much partying).
You will be happy to learn that Boston/Cambridge and nearby areas has the largest concentration of Portuguese speaking people in the USA so when you come you might wish to go to a Portuguese or Brazilian or Cape Verdean neighborhood or shop or restaurant and ask for some advice about the city and how best to enjoy it while you are here.
