Should I bring my DSLR to France?
This summer I’m going to France with a group of about 30 high school French students and 4 French teachers.
I’m thinking about bringing in a small messenger bag:
Canon t1i ($800)
50mm f/1.8 ($100)
Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 ($450)
(I do NOT have insurance on it)
I am by no means a professional photographer (junior in high school), but I consider myself to be good at it. So I really want to bring all of this, but I’m afraid someone will come and snatch my bag from me. Should I bring the camera to France? Have any of you guys taken a DSLR to France without any problems? Any tips if I do take the camera?
If you want good quality pictures then I would suggest to bring it
You are going to be with 4 teachers and 30 students, so you will be in a big crowd and it will be less likely that someone will come and snatch it.
Just be sure to always be with the crowd, perhaps more towards the middle?Surround yourself basically.
Also you need to watch that the 30 high school students don’t try and steal your camera on the last day like I am sure that no one would have the nerve to steal your camera at the beginning of the trip and try to use it because obviously you would say ” hey thats my camera!” Towards the end, someone could have the guts to steal it from your own group.
TIP: Never sit your camera down and leave it unattended if your at a cafe or something that one second it would be stolen. So keep it with you at all times and keep an eye on it.
