Mono / Unipods for digital SLR cameras?
My boyfriend has a Nikon D40, and I want to get something for him on his birthday. I recommend a monopod / Unipod or should go with the usual tripod? Could it really unipods support the weight of an SLR? Are there any disadvantages such as the use of a unipod for a D40? And unipods are really small (inches 20something?) Please help. Thank you.
HI Katia. Nice bday present! I suggest you buy the tripod. The monopod constantly requires someone to give support or keep up. The tripod frees the hands to work with the camera .. Camera Settings and lens. We have a monopod and a pair of tripods … ended with the tripod as mentioned most often gives us more freedom to concentrate on shooting and the camera. Also … brands that have models that support the weight of the heaviest DSLR and the aim is Bogen and Giotto. Try not to get one with very thin legs, as they tend to oscillate on windy days.
