Do scratched on a camera lens affect picture quality/sharpness?
I let my cousin use my camera and I saw a fingerprint smear on the lens. I’m scared that if I wipe the fingerprint off, a scratch might be revealed. I’m guessing it will be like those little scratches you get on your cell phone screen if you leave it in your pocket. Could the scratch affect the picture sharpness/quality?
If you don’t see a scratch right now, the fingerprint will affect your picture worse than any minor scratch that may be there. Clean the print.
If you have a fine scratch on the front of your lens, it won’t affect most of your pictures. But if sunlight hits the scratch, it could flare up and lose contrast as well as some shadow detail.
As long as you clean it properly, I doubt you’ll have any problems.
