Lighting at an indoor concert?
So I’m attending a concert next Saturday (March 7th) at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco (indoor), and I’m taking my Nikon D40 along with me. I’m just curious to know if anyone else has photographed there? I have a 55-200 mm lens (Yes I know it’s not the most ideal to take to a concert) but it’s all I have and I don’t have the money to splurge on a nicer lens at the moment.
My questions is, if you have photographed here, was the lighting for the shows alright or poor? And maybe a few suggestions on settings for my camera so I can at least get some decent shots? I would really appreciate the help.
Shoot using the aperture priority mode with the lens wide open. Be sure to set your white balance to incandescent. If you need to,raise your ISO to 1600 so you do not get camera or subject blur.
If you can get a good reading on the stage, you can shoot in the manual mode using that setting for the whole time you are shooting, making slight adjustments as the light changes from time to time if you want more control
