Is Akihabara, Japan a good and cheap place to shop for electronics?
Ok, here’s my question. I’m going to Japan in a few days time, and I want to buy a few electronics such as: A mac book pro (with customizations), maybe a new video camera, and a few video game consoles and games. I heard from a friend (who is Japanese) and he said that Akihabara is very cheap compared to other asian countries like: Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. I live in Malaysia, and i’ve have remembered the price and I’m going to look in Akihabara. All I want to know, is to all of your opinion’s what do you think about the price of electronics in Akihabara. And if there’s is anything which you would like to add, such as: Language for these items, or specification, or basically anything important please let me know.
Things such as cameras are quite cheap (still expensive but no where near the amount you would pay for one in Australia), however a MacBook Pro will not be much different from what you pay in Australia. Things like game consoles and games, the problem with buying game consoles is that the games you buy in Australia will not work (apart from PS3), also they are not as crazy about Xbox and PS3 as we are, they are really into Wii, many stores have floors dedicated just to wii products it’s quite amazing.
