What are the main Canadian electrical stores that sell cameras?
For example, in New Zealand we have Harvey Norman, Dick Smith Electronics, Noel Leeming, Bond and Bond etc.
I am going to Canada, and am wanting to find out whether its best for me to buy a new camera once I get there, or to get one before I go (price-wise). I’d like to be able to search them online.

The prices for electronics in Canada are generally not that good, and many Canadians actually go down to USA to buy any pricy electronic goods like laptops, iPads, or fancy cameras.
If all you want is a digital camera with decent pixels that you can carry around, just about any department store here carries them. The best variety would be at places like Best Buy, Futureshop, or Staples (called “Bureau en Gros” in Quebec).
On the other hand, if you are looking at getting a fancy high-end camera with removable lenses and accepts filters and such, you may want to go to a place that specializes in just selling cameras. In that case, a place like Black’s Photography would be a good place to look.
You really should compare prices between Canada and New Zealand to see if it is worth it to wait and buy one here. Keep in mind that you will be charged one or more taxes depending on the province you are visiting. We have either one harmonized tax (BC, ON), or a federal and provincial tax. Only in Alberta would you pay only one tax (the federal one).
Taxes in Canada will increase the cost of your purchase by 5 to 15% depending on the province.
And obviously don’t forget the exchange rate between the canuck and kiwi dollar…
