It’s a movie. None of those things really happened.
The movie was filmed using professional movie cameras and very advanced technology and special effects just like any other Hollywood movie. The “shaky handycam home movie” style and prop camcorders were a stylistic choice to make the movie feel gritty and real. It was actually quite difficult to achieve that style and still integrate all the special effects.
