Questions about airport security & what items I have to put in the bins?
Hi, tomorrow I’m leaving on an early flight to Hawaii and I’m not checking any bags. I’m only bringing a rolling carry on (for the above compartment on the plane) and a backpack (as my personal item). For electronics, I’m planning on bringing my laptop, my Canon Rebel t1i (A DSLR camera, much bigger than most point-and-shoot cameras) and POSSIBLY my game console if there is room. For the laptop and the game console, I know that I will have to put the actual machines in bins when going through security, but will I have to put the wires for them in bins as well or can I just leave them in my bag? Also, will I have to put my camera in a bin? I know that airport security doesn’t make you take cameras out usually but I wasn’t sure about mine since it’s bigger. I looked on a few airport security websites and couldn’t find much about these. Thanks 
Firstly, unless you’re traveling first class, they won’t let you take two large bags onboard. So unless your backpack is no larger than say a woman’s purse, you’ll have to check one or the other of your bags. As for the bins, they will want to scan your computer and if you take a games console they’ll probably want you to scan that separately too (put each one into its own bin). The wires can stay in your bag. I doubt they’ll want your camera in its own bin, just in your bag is fine. Since you’re carrying all your stuff with you, make sure that there are no liquids larger than the allowed size as specified on the TSA site. All the info you need is below.
