Help with Canon Powershot SX30 memory cards and video?
I am going to a concert soon and I would really like to record HD video of it. The concert will be about 4 hours long. I won’t record all of it but I would really like to not have to worry about space on my memory card. How many GB would be enough? On the Canon website it says 16GB will record 1 hr. 24 min. I figured a 32GB and 16GB would be enough. What do you all think? Also will my battery run out before the concert finishes? I have the one that came with the camera, Lithium-ion Battery NB-7L. I am extremely new to cameras so I would really appreciate some help. Thanks.
Depending on whether or not they allow you to bring the camera will be the first question. Bands are very concerned about copyright issues and often don’t allow video cameras into the shows… but that’s a separate issue.
Since recording HD video requires lots of power I’d say yes, your battery will be done fairly quickly.
If you have extra power then I’d say bring your cards and you’ll fill them both.
Another thing to consider is that your audio won’t be good – probably very distorted because that kind of audio level over drives the small in-camera microphones. But, good luck.
