Canon 850 vs. 870 (United States)?

I am looking mainly at two options for a new digital camera:
Canon SD850IS and the Canon SD870IS.

There is almost no difference between the two; in fact, the most outstanding difference is that the 850 has a slightly smaller screen (-) to accomodate the viewfinder (+), whereas the 870 has a large screen (+) but no viewfinder (-).

Price differences depend on the location, but on sale they have often been the same price. Obviously the newer 870 is more, though.

If you have either of these cameras, could you tell me what you like and don’t like about it? If you have experience with both, even better!

I have neither of these cameras, but do have a Canon SD400, just an earlier version of the same thing.

Personally, I would NEVER own a digital camera without a viewfinder. Using the monitor in bright daylight can be very difficult, plus it is just a goofy method of taking photos. The viewfinder will always be useful. You can steady the camera much better against your face for sharper photos than you can trying to hold it out at arms length to use that silly monitor. Plus, with a viewfinder, you can turn the monitor OFF, and your battery life will be GREATLY extended.

So I would recommend the 850 because it has the viewfinder.
