How do I get my computer to recognize my Canon PowerShot A40?
All online help that keeps telling me that my computer should recognize automatically by the camera through the USB port, but it is not. I went to the canon website and downloaded and installed the driver, but still does not work! I have to get my photos! Can anyone help please?
I assume you are working on Windows XP. Start the Canon software that comes alongwith the camera (or hope has installed beforehand), connect the camera via the USB port, keep the camera in Play mode, turn it on. Now, Windows detect a USB device and then display the name of the camera, click the globe and select the images you want to import (even if you have not installed the software barrel this should work from XP now comes with the device manager is required).
