I want to get into photography as a hobby,do i go for canon g7/350d or Olympus sp560?
I do digital art at college and want to get inot photography for my course and as a side hobby to continue on as i study other things at uni. but im stuck as to which camera to go for. as my first camera do i really need to go for an lsr? _ im mainly interested in macro photography for now. My friend said the g7 is brilliant, but i like the look of the olympus 560 , i’ve used it and was satisfied with the macro and the thought of 18x zoom does seem sweet. Or should i jus go for an slr? I know about the obvious benefits of attatchments and the better noise reduction but is there really a Massive gap bewteeen quality or would i still be able to get some quality pictures from the 560/g7? my budget is probably £350 MAXIMUM. I have to say im edging towards the 560 but i wanted advice from experienced photographers first. also are there any rly cheap online sites to get them from? thankyou.
I just bought the Olympus EVOLT 510. My uses are somewhat different than yours, but I looked at the Nikons and the canons before settling on the Olympus. It is my first real Digital SLR and I wanted a good one. I use it more for action shots of a motorcycle club, portraits, and both indoor and outdoor events. I looked at a lot of data before buying, I knew that I wanted a minimum of 10MP, a reliable and well backed product, I also purchased mine as a complete kit with the camera body, a Zuiko 14-42MM lens and a Zuiko 40-150 lens a newer Photo program for my computer etc. I liked several features of the camera, including the automatic internal dust cleaning setting.
I googled “discount camera prices” and “digital cameras” and found dozens of discount sites. Although I ended up buying for a local Camera store and paying a little more because I wanted it right away.
I don’t think you will go wrong with the Olympus. Good luck
