Do you ever copy another photographer’s style?
I browse sites, books, magazines to see other photographers work. I am an amateur so i can learn alot but do you ever copy someones exact work and is that bad if you do? I’ll be shooting macro soon and i want to ‘copy’ some i see online but i feel bad taking credit for it.
Also–where can i find examples online shot with a film camera b/c most shot with digital are edited.

This is how I see it….
Somewhere down the line, years ago there was a photographer who tried to photograph something. Someone else saw the photo and decided to try and capture the same image. A 3rd person decides to capture the photo and so on….
So at this point, in the present time, you trying to photograph macro shots, is not copy off another photographer. All you are doing is trying to become a better photographer by taking your own pictures.
There are alot of macro drops photos going around. I am sure this style was capture on film by a photographer years ago. It just recently come out and about again, and now everyone is trying to shoot drops.
If you go by your own words….then everyone in this present day and the past has copied another photographer’s style. And in a way, we all have, but there is only the original photographers (for every style) who has created that specific style.
