Professional grade camera digital photography with flash?
I am looking to take pictures of sporting events and the need to know what type of camera would be good for indoor photography and interiors. I watch the news photojournalist camera indoors without using a flash at sporting events, I do not know what they are using. Money is not a problem, I just want a good camera.
NBA and WNBA games Shooting (indoors without flash) and use a pair of Nikon D70, now replaced by the D80. Here are some photos taken in the WNBA Playoffs recently with my 6 MP camera, a Nikon 18-200mm VR and a Nikon 75-300mm zoom. I ISO 1600 with the lens wide with maximum Shutterspeed to capture the action. The images were cropped and resized before uploading. And here are some more, taken from the top of the stands in the recent Cal vs Tennessee game. I was using a Nikon D50 (recently replaced by the D40) and shoot with my 18-200mm VR. ISO settings range from 400-1600 and the dim light of night. Pictures were cropped and resized before uploading. I love my Nikon and highly recommend them. Remember, my cameras are "old and outdated" in the minds of many. But I guess they do pretty well, right? For a beginner, I recommend the Nikon D40, D40, D80 or, depending on your budget. Then look at the great new 70-300mm VR lens. The VR (Vibration Reduction) feature virtually eliminates the need for a tripod!
