Exchange my Panasonic Lumix for a Sony Cybershot?
I recently bought a Panasonic Lumix digital camera, but the Sony Cybershot I saw at Best Buy had some features that I like (the “pan and sweep” panorama mode, and a little switch that makes going from “photo” to “video” mode a breeze).
I like my Lumix, but the Sony camera just seems more user-friendly. Should I return my Panasonic camera for a refund and get the Sony camera instead?
You can do that, but Lumix usually come with a better lens and hence the image quality. Sony’s sweep panorarma is not very usable, and almost always inaccurate (owned a NEX-5 for 6 months). But if the Sony comes with a Carl Zeiss lens, it might be a good deal.
Otherwise you can stitch panorama in software, it’s it’s usually more accurate than sweep panorama. Also check the user manual of your Panasonic, there might be a configurable button, which you may assign to video capture.
