Recommended equipment for shooting short comedy sketches?
Some friends and I want to start writing and filming short comedy sketches along the lines of Britanick (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqz_k16jAgg) in regards to production quality. Obviously, they’ve been in the game a lot longer with a lot more experience, but we want our videos to catch the eye of the viewer without them dismissing it as one of the millions of clueless wannabes that don’t sink in the necessary time or effort. Within a fairly affordable budgets, some suggestions on cameras, mics, and lighting would be fantastic. Help us out, please?
The best investment you can make is in a couple of good books on video production. It’s not the tools as much as it is how you use them.
I took a look at those Britanick videos, the quality varies between basic and almost amateur, there’s no reason you couldn’t surpass that quickly. Their main ‘edge’ over amateurs is attention to editing (it’s comedy, man… pacing is everything).
