Whats the best family security camera system that i can use a iphone to monitor?
i m trying to find a 4 camera to 8 most, i can add a hard drive so a bare recorder and cameras inside the home is all i need
Check Amazon for the cameras. Most of the systems include the DVR and that ends up costing about $500. This one gets good reviews but is about $700, but that includes 8 cameras and the DVR. You can’t find too many cameras under $100 that are decent, which may mean that these cameras are not very good quality, but you do get 8 of them.

Now, you do have an option to add a DVR PCI card to your PC for the recording. They get some mixed reviews. The best rated one I could find is this Q-See one:

but it’s $150. So once you add that card and then you buy some cameras, you might be getting up there in price. The card though handles the camera input. You’ll have to buy the camera cable. Install it,etc. You might like a wireless option, but those are a bit more pricey for the cameras. Once you get all everything setup, there is a cool app you can get for your Iphone called Mobiscope for monitoring the security cameras:

It’s a cheaper cost than some of the other software out there.

If you get one of the DVR systems, they can email or SMS text alert you when there is motion on a camera. That’s pretty handy, like if you are watching an elderly person and they move from one room to another and they should not. The DVR from Amazon above said it would record up to 1 month, so you can go back and review later. You might like wireless if you can find one system that is good. No holes to drill makes things a bit easier.
