How Many PC Based Security Monitoring Surveillance Systems Companies Are There In Alarm Industry ?
I am researching security monitoring surveillance systems which can be installed easily by home or business owner using a PC and USB cameras, not closed circuit or professionally monitored systems. I have only found one to date, so before I decide, I wanted to know if there are any other owner installed systems on the market that offer free trials to evaluate compared to the below company I found called GuardYourPlace

For proper security, USB is useless. There are severe limits in reliable distances a USB camera can cover, USB cameras never produce reliable quality, I have never known a police or court authority accept a USB camera image as evidence, and for external use they can not handle the conditions and light ranges required. Proper CCTV cameras with RF or IP connections are the only real answer, to run this in a PC there are many purpose built PC capture cards. More than a few cameras will always slow the PC down considerably if they monitor and record correctly, so you really need a dedicated PC. For more than 4 cameras you need a relatively high performance PC. It is far cheaper now to buy dedicated DVRs for multiple camera systems. These come in 2 port and upwards, and up to 16 cameras will be cheaper than an 8 camera PC based system to buy. They have network monitoring, need no configuration to start using them, and are totally impervious to all the usual attacks a PC can suffer from.
