Scanner “working” but not recognized by programs…?
I just found a dinosaur of a scanner while I was cleaning up: a HP scanjet 3970.
I connected everything and went to the HP site to download the driver software. Everything said it was working, so I tried to open the Scanner and Camera Wizard…. nothing. It said that there was no scanner or camera connected.
I went to add the scanner in Control Panel, but when I tried to add it, my computer said that it was installed and working properly.
It’s still not recognized by Scanner and Camera Wizard or FreeOCR.
The computer is running on Windows XP. Thanks. c:
I’m presuming that you’ve downloaded the correct driver, my friend, but did you also download and install the Patches and Updates? Reading the comments that come with them, there’s a good chance that you need them. (Sorry, I know it’s more downloading.)
There’s also the HP System Diagnostics Utility that might aid you in finding out exactly why it’s not being recognized.
