Trying to use webcam as a security cam?
I live in an apartment complex where there has been damage to vehicles in the parking lot and issues with one apartment full of young people who are always in the parking lot having domestic quarrels. These people are suspected of damaging other peoples vehicles during their arguments (throwing things/breaking windows and kicking at which ever persons vehicle is closest to them). My webcam can get a lovely view of my vehicle from my window. I want to set the webcam to record a view of my vehicle all night incase these people damage my vehicle during one of their tirades.
The problem is that my laptop does not have the capacity for much C drive space. I can only capture about 2 hours at a time/418 MB. Is there a way to have the camera capture directly to a CD instead of to the C drive? I am using Windows Movie Maker on XP and an old Dell Latitude that has been upgraded to XP from Windows 2000 so it is a bit of a dinosaur but very capable of good video capture.

Note that good video will depend on the quality of the imaging source: the better the camcorder, the better the shot.
Perhaps others in your compound can chip in to get a decent webcam, with a wide angle lens for more complete coverage, or you insurance company will partially defray the cost.
