How safe do u think is getting a camera NOT from a Company Certified retail store…?

Like say there are shops which offer Nikons at around 100$ or more less..These shops are NOT Nikon Retail Outlets..They are ‘All in One’ kinda shops and they offer 1yr or No warranty for the product for which Nikon offers a 2 yrs warranty… Now generally these cams are very strong and nothing really happens unless its a faulty product from the company..But under the event of something happening u have to pay for the repair (which is not gonna be less as parts are costly)..
Its not just Nikon, every brand…so what would u do, buy a Camera for 1500$ from the Showroom or get it from somewhere cheap (maybe online) for 1200$…?
It sounds like you work for a retail camera store. New camera sold significantly below the stated Manufacturer’s List price are problem what is called Grey Market cameras, units that were meant to be sold in other countries and bought cheaply and sold cheaply. That exist in almost every market to some extent. The problem with buying grey market items is that the US service centers will not honor the warranties which might mean taht if you have to get the camere repaired, you have to send it to the country that was designated to sell the camera.
You find the same problem with watches, electronics and other items. It all boils down to CAVEAT EMPTOR – buyer beware.
