Indoor and outdoor Nikon shooting settings.?
Hi. I have a Nikon D3000 and I love it! I ride horses often and compete all spring/summer. I have tried using my camera to take action shots of my friends riding (and they have taken pictures of me). Whether we photograph the riding indoors or outdoors, they always come out blurry over jumps. What can i do to stop this?
I am using a 55-200mm lens
Can you give me step by step instructions to change the settings on my camera for both indoor and outdoor action shots? It’s a fast moving sport, usually riding at 15- 20 mph.

I can provide some pointers that should help some.
Outdoors, usually, there is much more light to work with which is very helpful when shooting action and sports.
You need faster shutter speeds, I would say shoot a shutter speed of at least “250″ (meaning a 250th of second). You need need the proper aperture setting along with the shutter speed and to make this easier then use the Shutter Priority Mode labeled as “S”.
In this “S” mode (Shutter Priority), you will choose the shutter speed, and the camera will set the proper aperture for you. You will need to keep an eye on the meter in case the camera warns you that there is too little light to adjust. So you may want to try the Auto ISO mode so the camera can adjust the ISO if needed.
