how much will it cost to fix a digital camera lens/what can i do to fix a jammed lens?
I dropped my friends camera samsung pl81 from a height of around 3/4ft with moderate force on to its lens and its now jammed and when i lie the camera down the furthest lens out is at an angle where part of it is raised, ive tried gently pushing the lense back in but nothing seems to be working. Im considering finding a repair shop to get it fixed is there anything i can try or can someone tell me how much id be looking to pay for a repair (£)
Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it’s sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera’s been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended …
Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they’re worth a try.
