Can I use a normal camera for a green screen? What editing program do I use?
So, my friends and I are always remaking music videos. And we do the best we can for parts that require so many crazy effects and transitions. But we’d like to do better and try out a green screen. We have everything picked out, and first we’re going to try the chroma key green poster board you get from the dollar store. But, we have two problems.
Question one:I have a normal digital camera, it records and does all that kind of stuff. It’s a Sanyo. And I don’t have a video camera, just the one that I have. If I use it, will it work??
Question two:How/can I edit it in Windows Media player? I have lots of experience with that and probably won’t know how to use anything else….step-by-step instructions would be GREAT.
I really don’t understand all that techy-talk stuff, so please use words that I would be able to understand, lol

You can use your camera for chroma key. That’s the easy part. The trick to any chroma key work is to have the background green or blue screen evenly lit. If it isn’t, the camera will see different light levels, and the chroma key process will be much more difficult. Only a portion of the key color will be removed, leaving you with only some of the screen replaced and the rest a green background.
I don’t know if WMM can do chroma key or not. Never tried. You could always search the WMM help file for keywords like chroma key or green screen. The process requires mutliple inputs, with a background to replace the key color, and the remainder of the portion you want in front of that background. If WMM will only work with one input… then it won’t do chroma key.
You can also search Google for “chromakey software”. There are utilities that are designed for that specific purpose.
