Digital Camera Driver Help?

I have a Sanyo VPC-S500. When I plug the usb cord into the camera and the pc I get this “USB device not recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.” I’ve tried formatting the SD card, but I get the same outcome. The only place on the computer I have found the camera is under device manager and it shows up under USB controllers as an unknown device. I no longer have the cd-rom that came with the camera after moving and I’ve looked endlessly for a driver over the internet including sanyo’s website. I was hoping someone could help me find a driver or help me solve the problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Get a card reader (USB 2). You won’t drain your battery in the camera–and it will download much faster, too.
