TWIN, SINGLE, MANUAL??? HELP!!!?
what type of lens does the sony cybershot 12.1 megapixel DSC-S980 camera have? twin, single, or manual? i have to know for a competition and i can’t find it anywhere! also, do digital cameras have a ‘film type’????

Digital cameras do not have a film type. Instead of using film, it uses a light sensitive sensor. In film cameras, film type refers to the size of film the camera takes.
your camera has a single lens. Camera lenses, like the one in your cybershot, are usually ‘compound lenses,’ which means that the lens is made up of several pieces of glass that work together as one unit. One compound lens is still just referred to as a ‘single lens’ or an individual lens though.
A twin lens camera has two separate lenses, usually one above the other. The user looks through one of the lenses to compose the shot, and the other lens is for the film. Twin lens cameras are not common anymore, and there are only one or two of them still in production.
Your lens is automated. The camera automatically focuses the lens, and it automatically chooses the aperture. You can probably set these manually with your camera, but it is still the camera that does the moving of the parts.
A fully manual lens requires you to turn wheels around the outside of the lens to adjust the focus and the aperture.
All of these terms are generally used for reflex cameras, either Twin Lens Reflex (TLR) or Single Lens Reflex (SLR). Your camera is considered a ‘Point and Shoot’ camera.
