Cannon XL1 digital video camera FireWire to USB?
Hello everyone I have a Canon XL1 DVC came with a cable fire, but my laptop not have a firewire port so I bought a Firewire to USB cable. The problem is that my laptop says unrecognized device. Do I need to download a driver to get an adapter instead of cable or something else. Please help.
The XL1 need a firewire connection, no device that converts USB and Firewire to work properly. USB can not keep up with the transfer rate. go here and there some firewire cards that express slot your laptop. http://www.lindy-usa.com/usb-firewire/firewire-cards/ the great thing about Firewire is that it does not make use of their computing resources (plus space hard disk) I would return cable and get a card. You have a video camera using a XL1 good for years and still have one. RR
