Should I switch from Pentax to Canon?
I love my K20D and have invested a bit in the lens, flash, etc, but after my recent trip to Japan I'm frustrated with the slow approach, slow write speed and lack of support and accessories from the local camera stores. With the exception of Yodobashi, Japanese camera stores even had little or no equipment of Pentax. I was testing the 50D and was very impressed with the speed of capture and AF speed. Should I Pentax eBay'ing start my computer and start again? Or stick with the black horse?
Hello CB, there are good reasons to choose Pentax (like me), but a quick AF, fast write speed, and support and accessories from the local camera shops are not among them. If those are the things you want, then yes, you should change. But do not say why you choose to Pentax in the first place. I doubt it was a faster AF, faster write speed, and support and accessory stores the camera local. What were the reasons, and it remains important to you? How I miss them (or anything) if you change? As you probably know, the K-7 has much improved AF speed. However, Canon will continue to improve their models as well. I would suggest buying a 50D and a lens that will be used much. Then instead of taking the K20D as there have been over the stock lenses anyway. Continue that for a few months. Do you think you are happy to have the Canon rather than the Pentax? Or do you find you are not taking the Pentax? After a few months most cases, you will not have to – you know if you want to change. But I sure do not know which way you decide. Of course, if you decide to stay with the Pentax, you'll lose a little money on the resale of the Canon. But still, it would be a small price to pay to make sure you really want.
